No one knows where or when Chatze was born. She may have been one of the many "Wharf Kitties " that live a few blocks from the market or she may be a "drop off" cat or she may just have been abondoned by some uncaring service family passing though.
All I know is she will let even small children pet her but becomes impatient with grown-up and frequently will take "swipes" at them.
She has been visiting my booth at the market for many years and I am told will sit rather disconsolatly in the middle of my space when I do not show up. As a matter of fact during this last 3 week absense of mine due to illness she apparently was getting quite "testy" with the local market people.
I will post 2 pictures today hoever one is not very good. So next week at the "Berry Fest" in Coupeville (July 20th 2002) I will try and take more. Also I will post more information about Chatze.
JULY 23, 2002 Well Chatze was not camera cooperative last weekend. She declined most pictures but I will try for more at the next market. She is a most amusing cat frequently waiting until my back s turned to avail herself of some of the toys on my table. She just KNEW that we had a fresh harvested crop this week for she had jumped in the window of the van right after we had parked--looking for the source of that heavenly smell I suppose.
Next week we will be at the Loganberry Fest at the Greenbank Farm so the poor baby will have to do without unless I run into one of the market people to take her a bag.

As the time for the first day of the Coupeville Farmer's Market approaches I can't help but wonder if Chatze made it through the Winter. It will be interesting to see if she shows up at my space this Saturday.
